Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common liver disorder characterized by fat accumulation in liver cells, unrelated to alcohol consumption. Obesity is a significant risk factor for developing NAFLD due to increased fat deposition in the liver and the development of other obesity-related health conditions, such as insulin resistance.
Types of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
NAFLD can be categorized into two main types, with obesity playing a significant role in both:
- Simple fatty liver (steatosis): Simple fatty liver is characterized by the accumulation of fat in liver cells without significant inflammation or liver damage. It is usually a benign condition and rarely progresses to more severe liver disease.

Common Issues Associated with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
NAFLD can lead to various challenges and complications, including:
- Liver inflammation: The accumulation of fat in the liver can trigger inflammation, causing liver damage and impairing liver function.
- Fibrosis and cirrhosis: Chronic inflammation in the liver can lead to the development of fibrosis (scar tissue), which may progress to cirrhosis (advanced scarring) and result in liver failure.
- Liver cancer: NAFLD, particularly NASH, can increase the risk of developing liver cancer.
- Cardiovascular complications: NAFLD is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attack and stroke.
Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in Men
Men with NAFLD face unique challenges and concerns, such as:
- Higher prevalence: Men have a higher prevalence of NAFLD compared to women, due to differences in body composition, fat distribution, and hormonal factors.
- Earlier onset: NAFLD tends to develop earlier in men than in women, with the highest incidence occurring between the ages of 40 and 60.

People have asked me “ is nothing closer... read more to you? “ I tell them the Harvey Brooker program teaches a one of a kind healthy eating lifestyle that is specifically designed just for men, and that it has one of the highest levels of one percenters ie. men who have maintained their weight loss long term. I tell them it’s highly motivating to see a number of men attending the meetings who were once overweight but clearly aren’t anymore. And the best part is once you reach your goal weight and become a maintainer the program is free so long as you keep maintaining your weight. This makes it one of the cheapest programs available. I’m hoping to reach my high school weight of 170 within a year, and I’m half way there already! I lost 25 lbs in my first 4 months on the program.

Once I got that through my fat head, it all clicked. It’s proven, balanced, logical, flexible, so damn smart. Speaking exclusively for myself (not for this product), I stopped 3 med prescriptions along the way, sleep way better, never have heartburn, dropped 2 sizes and love my clothes again. Is it cheap? No, nothing of real value is. Was it worth it? Hell ya. The only losers are MacDonald’s, Tim’s, Pizza Pizza and the Beer Store. Harvey was a genius, and I’m so grateful for the existence of this program.
